Slots Rules
As with real casinos, no virtual casino would be complete without a slots lobby and, as they continue to develop through breathtaking software innovations, some of them can be a hugely popular 'game of choice' for many when they visit these casinos, and not just because they are incredibly easy and can be such exciting fun!
General online slots rules of play are very simple: place your bet, spin those reels of symbols and see if the symbols land in combination that wins you some cash - just like those old pier slots or 'one armed bandits' of our youth! There's no strategy involved, it's just spin and see if you get lucky! However, with the wealth of games now available out there, we offer a few additional pointers to help you be "reely" aware:
- Although there are almost no rules as such, those that there are mainly relate to the rules of what does and what does not constitute a winning spin. For guidance of the rules of individual games, it's useful to know that each game usually has its name in a graphic banner towards the top of the online 'machine'. Below this is usually found a payout table, which gives you all the information you need about the individual payout rules for that game, largely specifying which symbols and which combinations you need to achieve a win.
- • Most online machines have a spin button which you will need to click on to initiate the spin (the virtual equivalent of the arm pulling of that old one-armed bandit). There are not generally any rules relating to the time taken to initiate your spin, but if you take too long, you may find that the 'spin' button flashes to remind you that it is waiting for your action.
- Be aware that some casinos set minimum and maximum betting rules (limits) for slots in the same way that they do for some of their table games. There is usually an indication on any expected limit shown on or around the betting button, or this will be evident in a pop up when you start to play or if you try to bet below the limit.
- Similarly, where you are playing on a multi-line paying machine, your bet costs will usually increase in relation to how many pay-line chances of winning you want as you play, so if you are playing a 25-line possible payout, your stake will be considerably more than for a one-liner – it can be easy to get confused or even caught out by this when you first start playing on-line slots.
Lastly, where you are playing slots and familiarizing yourself with the rules, it's worth noting that one of the general rules about payout is that where there are several payout line options available and more than one of these ends with a winning combination, then all of these winning lines will payout, not just the highest line, part of what makes contemporary on-line slot play so enticing!
